The island of Vir is located in the northern Dalmatia, approximately 25 km northwest of Zadar, and is connected by bridge to the mainland. With a total area of 22.5 km, Vir or as Italians call it "PuntaDura" (rocky shores) is presented to the visitor as a variety of landscape with limestone area, pine trees and fig trees, with old vineyards and young olive trees. The length of the coast is 31 km, the beaches are mostly sandy and gravelly with crystal clear sea, which makes this island a paradise for family holidays. Fresh breeze soothes summer temperatures and creates good conditions for windsurfing.

Numerous coves provide protection for boaters who are frequent visitors to the archipelago of Zadar.
This destination is recommended for those who prefer mountain-biking, especially out of season, in spring and autumn when the beautiful scenery completes the enjoyment of those sports. It is possible to jog along the beach or in the interior of the island among many olive trees and pine trees. To those whom swimming and sunbathing are not the only motives for going on vacation, Vir is an ideal destination because of the central position in the Croatian Adriatic coast, this island is an ideal hub for trips to national parks and old Croatian towns. Vir is not a place of big hotels or mass tourism. Vir’s offer are restaurants and cafes with terraces in the shade, taverns, night clubs, and various shops, dispensary, pharmacy, post office, travel agency, vegetable market and fishmonger’s. The residents of Vir welcome you to enjoy the charms of our island.
On some beaches, such as bay Sapavac, near the Venetian fortress Kastelina from the 16th century there is peloid mud to treat rheumatism.
 With almost 300 sunny days per year Vir is enjoyable destinations also during off-season. Those who prefer walking can from the island's highest peak, Bandira (112 m), admire the beautiful panorama that includes the entire Vir, nearby islands and mountain Velebit (1750 m). They can also visit the nearby church on the island or old citadel next to you can see traces of the old galley on the sea bottom.
